Here’s a great thing

Veruschka Stevens

Cliff Stevens, who’s been quite active with Val Beggs’ sewing classes, took the pattern of a hand-woven Bolivian textile and had it printed online. When the fabric arrived, he reverse-engineered his wife’s favorite top and duplicated it with the new fabric, giving her a truly wonderful gift.

Not only is this very cool, it’s the kind of thing *you* can do, when you Make What You Wear! Thanks for sharing, Cliff!

Clever

Dave Becker demonstrates "an old sign painter's trick."

David Becker had the door to his studio open just now and took a moment to demonstrate what he described as “an old sign painter’s trick.” It’s a stick with a rubber ball mounted on the end, that lets you work more easily, while keeping your hands off the paper. (You’ll be able to see the finished product at a show in November we’ll be talking about more as its opening gets closer.)

Thanks for the demo, Dave!

Bald Eagle Art League at the Genetti

The Bald Eagle Art League begins a month long exhibition with a reception tonight at the Genetti Hotel. Our own David and Lynne Becker are curating, so be sure to stop by tonight.

On a very sad note, the show is being dedicated to the memory of Eve Archer, who passed away on Sunday. Eve was a true luminary in the local art community.

Please take a moment to read this article and wish her a word of thanks for all she has done for Williamsport and its artists:

The Bald Eagle Art League presents a group show “A Glimpse of Williamsport” at the Genetti Grille Gallery

For the past 43 years the Williamsport area has had an active art club, The Bald Eagle Art League. In this span of time there have been art shows, inspiring monthly art meetings, classes, demonstrations and a variety of inspirational activities. The Art League has had its ups and downs over the years but the current membership, participation and community involvement has sharply increased its momentum, as has the entire art culture of the Williamsport area.

Tommy Needs New Wheels

Tommy Grieco is one of our nicest tenants, a very talented artist and good friend.

He’s started a GoFundMe page to help pay for a new wheelchair, so we’re happy to share and hope you’ll consider helping him out!

Tommy Grieco

On May 10, 2003 Tommy Grieco was in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. He spent 4 weeks in the hospital, and 5 weeks in rehabilitation to learn how to adjust to his new life situation. He went from having a relatively normal American life, to having it turned upside down. His future was scary and unclear.

Update 6/27/16 – 11:45am

We have had a tremendous, overwhelming, unbelievable, heart-warming and most of all, generous outpouring of support for Tommy’s wheelchair campaign.

Thank You All.

Let’s keep this going!

Update #2 $5,950 raised!

Thank you all that donated to this site. Your generosity shows no bounds and I am forever grateful. In a few weeks or a little more from Spain I will receive my new manual wheelchair “the beast”. The rest of the donations will fix/replace my ramp at home. I’m still in shock from all the support of my friends and those who are total strangers. This is why and what a “go fund me” site is used and needed for not for frivolous items or trips to benefit no one in need. Plus, a special thanks to my friend, Shana for helping and getting things set up so quickly. Thank you so much to everyone. You made a grown man believe that there is still good in humanity. I will have pictures up on my Facebook with my new chair”the beast” whenever she arrives. God bless you all. I will never be able to say it enough, but Thank You.
